CAFETERIA MELO DIAZ sits quietly just off the busy streets of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, offering a relaxed spot where locals come to enjoy simple, homemade flavors and a casual atmosphere. This cafeteria feels like a neighborhood stop more than a tourist highlight—perfect for those looking to slow down over a well-made coffee or a straightforward, comforting meal.

The heart of the experience here is its balance between traditional and unpretentious. The couple running the place greet you with warmth that extends to the food and drinks, echoing a small-scale family venue rather than a polished café chain. Freshly squeezed juices and classic coffees are part of the draw, alongside regional touches like local beers and house-made dishes.

Visitors tend to arrive throughout the day, from quiet mornings with a freshly brewed coffee to peaceful afternoon breaks featuring pastries pulled from the day's fresh batch—like their Bollería Fresca del Día. There's also a modest menu spotlighting homemade, honest fare such as the house chicken salad, traditional lentils, and their signature tortilla. Patrons appreciate this approachable selection for lunch or a light dinner, with the added comfort of a few local drinks, including Canarian beers and sidra variations, which complement the simple plates.

The seating arrangement and overall vibe lean toward cozy and informal. The interior unfolds more like a living room shared with neighbors than a commercial spot, where you might catch some live music adding to the laid-back rhythm without overwhelming conversation. This lends itself well to a quiet catch-up or a solitary pause from the rush of the city.

CAFETERIA MELO DIAZ is particularly suited to those who enjoy unpretentious, home-cooked style meals and appreciate genuine hospitality over trend-driven dining. It's a spot locals seem to return to for both the food and the familiarity. Midday or early evening visits offer the best chance to settle in with some food or a drink in a calm setting away from the main streets’ bustle.

Traditional place run by a lovely couple. We only had drinks but they were both excellent. Orange juice is freshly squeezed as required and is all the better for it. It's hidden away of the main Street which makes it somewhat quieter but well worth seeking out.

New Chef, new menu, new atmosphere. All will cater well to the Hard Rock Hotel guests, and those that that desire an alternative to the bleak culinary landscape of mediocre restaurants in Playa Paraiso. The crafted menu, variety of beers and comfortable terrace with pool and ocean views will provide a breakfast, lunch and dinner experience guaranteed to bring you back.
